TECREANDO participates in the development of groundbreaking technologies and tools for the conservation and preservation of Artworks, Artifacts and Cultural Heritage assets.
Athens, Greece, November 2025. TECREANDO, a key partner in the European Research and Innovation project iPhotoCult, contributed to the success of a pioneering two-day event at the Benaki Museum of Greek Culture. The event, held on November 12th and 13th, showcased the revolutionary Digital Holographic Speckle Pattern Interferometry (DHSPI) a technique developed at the Institute of Electronic Structure and Laser of the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (IESL/FORTH) and advanced within the European Project iPhotoCult, coordinated by FORTH.
The event was organized by the Benaki museum, the iPhotoCult project and the deep-tech startup Holometrica which is developing SafeRay4Art a - DHSPI technology based - commercial device. Holometrica is the direct outcome of the Venture Building Activity of Tecreando, who cofounded the startup with FORTH and Dr. Vivi Tornari, the principal researcher and innovator.
The event - organized in 2 days, for the public and for the professionals - highlighted the project’s mission to empower professionals with state-of-the-art technological tools enabling them to dramatically improve the conservation and preservation of Artworks, Artifacts and Cultural Heritage assets.

Day 1: Art Meets Innovation – A Public Unveiling
On Wednesday, November 12, the museum opened its doors to the public for the event “Art Meets Innovation: DHSPI Technology Measures the Invisible”. Attendees witnessed a live demonstration where the DHSPI system was used to perform non-invasive diagnostics on priceless artworks in real-time.
The highlight of the day was the scanning of Domenikos Theotokopoulos's (El Greco) early masterpiece, “The Adoration of the Magi” (circa 1565-67). The DHSPI system, acting as a super-powered "diagnostic eye," used laser light to reveal and map microscopic deformations and hidden structural flaws invisible to the naked eye, providing a stunning visual representation of the artwork's structural health.

Day 2: A Professional Deep Dive for Conservators
On Thursday, November 13, the focus shifted to a specialized audience. This session, aimed at conservation professionals, featured in-depth presentations of the technology and demonstrations of live measurement and analysis. The event underscored the technology's role in enabling professionals transform conservation from (a) subjective to objective, (b) risk-prone to risk-free, and (c) reactive to proactive.
The event also underscored the power of European collaboration, uniting research institutions, like the Foundation for Research and Technology-Hellas (FORTH), with innovative companies, like TECREANDO and Holometrica, to collaborate in transforming mature R&D from the lab to the market.
